FAQs

Cancellation/Transfer Policy:
Applicable from 2nd March 2023

We have two booking categories - Standard and Flexible
Standard - allows you to cancel or transfer  your booking up to 10 days before the start of the event
Flexible - allows cancellation of your booking up to 10 days before the event or to transfer
the booking to the next available sessionup to just 24 hours before the event

By operating this system it allows us to maintain what we believe to be excellent value for money for our events, while giving you more choice in booking.

*if there is no future event scheduled we may provide credit to other events

All online events can be transferred up to 24 hours before the start of the session

Online Events:

I'm a beginner will it be ok for me?

Yes!  Our sessions are great for beginners and improvers.  Liddy takes you through the process gently and step by step.  You will get advice on colour mixing, creating the base image, how to recover if you make a mistake.  We encourage you to ask questions, we like a bit of chat!

While you will be on mute within the session to remove background noise so direction is clear if you need help, please take yourself off mute and ask.

How do I book?

All bookings for our online events can be made via the booking system on our home page payment can be made by credit, debit card or Paypal

How much does it cost?  Our sessions range between £4.50 and £12. Paint Like... is £5

How much is it in my currency?

All our prices are stated in £GBP you can check exchange rates here XE.COM or as a rough idea:

£5 = 5.40 Euro

£5 = 6.35 US Dollars

£5 = 8.90 AUS Dollars

£5 = 471 Indian Rupee

(rates correct as at 10.30am 07/10/2020)

What time is the event in my time zone?

Our times are stated as UK Time - this may be British Summer Time (BST) or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)

In the UK the clocks go forward 1 hour at 1am on the last Sunday in March, and back 1 hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October.

When the clocks go back, the UK is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

You can check the event time in your area here World Time Converter

Can I get a recording of the live session?

We don't offer recording of our live sessions.  For two reasons - Privacy, we encourage people to chat, ask questions and show their artworks during live sessions.  Cost, the additional cost of storage, editing and admin would impact on the cost of the event so prices would need to rise and want to keep prices as competitive as possible to ensure our sessions are as accessible as possible.

If you prefer to watch in your own time, we have On Demand this is a library of Art Videos specially made by us, it includes Paint Like.. videos, short tutorials and many of our own favourite works.  We are adding two new videos every week.  Take a look with a no obligation 7 day free trial - afterwards it is the reasonable price of £5 a month.

I can't make it in time for the session I've booked.

After your payment has been processed you can manage your bookings in your profile on our website, log in using your email address and password, you will see an option to Manage Bookings, cancellations and transfers can be actioned there.

We try to keep the requirements very simple to ensure the sessions are as accessible as possible

Brushes - As a basic rule you will just need a range three or four different sized brushes, small, medium and large

Watercolour:

Watercolour set that includes primary colours with black and white

A range of brushes as above

Watercolour paper or a thicker paper (to absorb the paint)

For both:

You'll need a pot of water, a cloth and a smile!

Where is my Zoom link?

Your Zoom link is in the confirmation email, this email is sent immediately you make your booking online.  It is sent to the email address you entered in the book system.  Occasionally the confirmation email will go into junk/spam folders

especially if you've made more than one booking.  You can also try to find it by searching Something Less Boring or Wix Appointments in your email account

To find the link please scroll down the email and look for Join Zoom Meeting (see highlighted below)

Where is the password?

There is no password, just click the link we will admit you from the Zoom Waiting Room

Can I book more one session at a time?

We became aware of this problem a little while back when we discovered that people actually quite liked doing our sessions! Unfortunately the answer is no. We've discussed this a number of times with Wix (who host and provide the building blocks for the website) unfortunately they have no plans to remedy this in the near future.  This is one of the reasons we are bringing in SLB Gold subscription service, if you join, while you will still have to book each individual session, there will be no need to put in your payment details each time.

What is SLB Gold?

SLB Gold is a subscription service, a regular monthly payment of £27 allows you to book 6 online sessions from the Paint Like.. and Remote Art Club activities.  You also have access to all the videos on SLB On Demand too.  This works out at a discount of £8 in total.  It is also more convenient in terms of booking, you will not need to enter payment details for each booking.  Cancellation can be made at any time, there is no fixed term.  Get Drawing, Collage, Wellness and other workshops are not included.

Where is my parcel?

We send all our parcels in the UK by Royal Mail second class, which is stated as 3-5 working days.  We always aim to get your parcel in the mail within 24 hours of the order being made.  We will contact you if we don't meet this standard.  Currently the Royal Mail are experiencing delays due to staff shortages caused by the ongoing pandemic.

How can I see what's coming up?

Another limitation of our booking system, there isn't a perfect solution to this.  There are four main main sources I'd suggest to try. There is a PDF "Online Schedules" at the top of the homepage on our website, this is updated approximately once a month, so not necessarily fully up to date (this is a limitation of the forgetful human who puts up the new times!).  Class Schedule widget - this lives at the bottom of the homepage, this contains all the sessions available to book in a week to view order, you can book your sessions through this too.  Within the booking system for most of the Paint Like sessions click Read More and scroll down, you will see upcoming dates for the given artist.  Finally.....Facebook, we advertise and post all upcoming events and updates here and is probably the most up to date in terms of new sessions.

Real Life Events - Art in the Pub, Creative Workshops, Active Creative, Walking Football

1.  Coronavirus - Cancellations and Rescheduled Events

If an event is rescheduled by the SLB, your booking is still valid. We will make you aware of the rescheduling by giving you reasonable notice – 14 days. If you cannot make the new date, you are entitled to a refund of the cost of your booking.

This will be the value of the booking, the amount that you paid. You will not be entitled to a refund of your booking fee, if applicable.

Amendment - we endeavour to transfer any customer who is forced to self isolate and therefore miss their workshop to the next available session in the following month if we are able to cover their place.

2. Returns Policy Document - please click here

3. How do I know my child will be safe and secure when they attend a Something Less Boring activity

You can rest assured that we are very serious about providing our arts, crafts and sports activities in a safe and responsible manner.

Paint used for our older age group classes, parties and events is non-toxic and has been thoroughly tested to be safe and suitable for children's crafts activities.

All SLB representatives are all fully trained and DBS checked and we run risk assessments on all the activities that we provide.

We undertake risk assessments of all our activity plans and activities, as well as all the products we use, venues are checked prior to all sessions to ensure we deliver activities that are safe and suitable.

At all of our SLB sessions, there will be a minimum of one first aid trained and safeguarding trained member of staff per 12 children, giving you peace of mind at all times.

Coronavirus Addendum:

Active Creative will run with two staff onsite each day and a maximum of 12 children.

Main Points to note:

✅ We have a Covid-19 ‘Risk Assessment’, in place that adheres to government guidelines.

✅ We have an ‘Operational Guide’ in place, in order for us to adhere to the Covid-19 government guidelines.

✅ Children will be allocated ‘bubbles’ of 6 children maximum with one staff member assigned to the bubble

✅ Bubble groups will use equipment specifically allocated to them (all equipment will be sanitised throughout the day and also at the end of each day)

4. What can my child expect at an SLB Club or camp?

A morning of fun and activity in Smaller inclusive groups, for art sessions please don't come along in Sunday best! Aprons will be provided but accidents will happen!  For sports sessions shin pads, trainers and water are a minimum expectation to take part.  A small packed lunch or snack would also be required depending on the length of the session
